WALK WITH EASE

MEMBERS: $45; COMMUNITY: $75
The Arthritis Foundation’s proven six-week program is designed to help individuals improve their overall health and manage pain through regular walking. Program offers strategies for building up your walking stamina, reducing pain, and staying motivated, making it suitable for all fitness levels, including those with arthritis or other joint issues. Sessions are led by a trained leader who provide guidance on walking techniques, warm-up, cool-down stretches, and strategies for managing pain. Each session usually lasts 45-60 minutes, including walking time and educational components. The group setting offers social support and motivation, making it easier to stay committed. YMCA'S DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM

The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program is a yearlong, evidence-based program geared towards individuals with prediabetes who are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. This CDC-based program teaches participants how to make life style changes through healthy eating and increasing physical activity, in order to lower their risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This program is facilitated by a certified YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program Life Style Coach.

CARDIAC WELLNESS WELCOME
​​
The Cardiac Rehabilitation Welcome program, in partnership with Exeter Hospital, welcomes individuals who have graduated from a cardiac rehabilitation program, have been cleared by their health care provider, and are looking to continue their wellness journey. Individuals are welcomed to the YMCA through a cardiac rehabilitation-based orientation and support from our staff, in order to make their transition more seamless.

Reclaim your health after surviving cancer in this research-based 12-week physical activity and wellbeing program. You’ll meet with your small group twice a week to regain your physical, emotional, and spiritual strength. The group will meet in the Odyssey Center but will use facilities throughout the building.

Join us for this uplifting, evidence-based class designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s. Led by Wilhelmina, the class combines the proven PWR! (Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery) framework with yoga, Pilates-inspired strengthening, and targeted balance training. Using the four signature PWR! moves—PWR! Up, Rock, Twist, and Step—participants practice moving bigger, stronger, and with greater confidence. These movements can be performed in any position and help improve flexibility, strength, posture, and everyday function. This one-hour session offers a supportive environment to stay active, build stability, and enhance overall well-being. Come move, stretch, and strengthen to feel better, live better, and stay engaged.

The Exeter YMCA is partnering with the Exeter Hospital Outpatient Neuro Physical Therapy Team to offer Parkinson’s-specific exercise classes in January and February. Exercise is one of the most effective ways to slow the progression of Parkinson’s, and these sessions provide a fun, supportive environment to move purposefully and connect with others in the PD community. Parkinson’s Fit Series classes focus on building strength, improving balance, and enhancing coordination. Classes begin with moderate to high-intensity movement for heart health, followed by strength and flexibility exercises to support mobility. Seated options and chair support are available, and exercises can be modified for comfort and safety. Please consult your healthcare provider if you have any concerns about participating.

This fun, welcoming class is designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s. Set to music, it uses gentle, adaptable movements to support balance, coordination, flexibility, posture, and mobility. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace in a supportive and inclusive environment. Please wear comfortable clothing, sneakers, and bring a bottle of water.

TAI CHI FOR PARKINSON'S: BEGINNER SIX-MOVE CLASS

Tai Chi is a gentle mind-body exercise that supports strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being. Research suggests it can help improve quality of life for people living with Parkinson's. This beginner-friendly class introduces a short sequence of six accessible movements, along with gentle warm-ups and breathing exercises. Participants may join standing or seated. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle - just come ready to experience what Harvard Medical School calls "medication in motion." The class is taught by Carolyn Hotchkiss, a certified instructor with the Tai Chi for Health Institute who has studied Tai Chi for more than 20 years

Join Pam for a one-hour indoor cycling class designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s. This supportive class features higher-cadence cycling, which research suggests may help improve mobility, reduce symptoms, and enhance overall function.
Suitable for a variety of fitness levels and stages of Parkinson’s, the class includes modifications to help each participant ride comfortably and confidently. Sessions include 30–45 minutes of cycling followed by gentle stretching to improve flexibility and recovery.
Participants should be able to safely get on and off a stationary bike and maintain a comfortable riding position throughout class.
