A Letter From Our CEO

Dear Valued Y Member,

At the Southern District YMCA, everything we do is guided by our commitment to support our communities. This is even more critical now that Governor Sununu announced on April 16 that all NH schools will continue with remote learning for the remainder of the school year. This will obviously delay our reopening to that time.

When you belong to the Y, you are not only a member of a health and wellness facility. You are a member of an organization dedicated to strengthening our community. In difficult times, the Y responds intentionally to critical community needs, and finds ways to use our resources to offer solutions – and you can help.

Please stick with the Y. By continuing to pay your membership fee, you will allow us to maintain the financial resources needed to focus our time, people and energies where our communities need it most.

The Y is currently working behind the scenes to offer critical childcare for parents who work in healthcare, pharmacies, grocery stores, police & fire departments, banking and many other essential businesses. We are also working on these initiatives (with more in the works):

  • The YMCA Activity Box Project (distribution of YMCA Activity Boxes to children who do not have access to items that keep them active and healthy while not in school)
  • Collection of donations for non-perishables to assist the St. Vincent De Paul Community Assistance Center
  • Virtual and Facebook Live classes and youth programs through the Member Facebook Group
  • Wellness checks to seniors, youth and teen program participants

We also understand that you may not have the financial resources to continue to pay and, naturally, we will place your membership on hold at no cost during this time. Should you wish to do so, please email membership@sdymca.org.

How we respond in this state of uncertainty is within our control. You play a vital role in helping us deploy our services to those in need. You may not realize that there have been many members enrolled in our programs via scholarship. As a result, you have already been helping our community since you joined the Y! We are simply asking that you continue to do so in these trying times if you can.

This is how the Y Community steps up to help, and we hope you will join us to keep our community strong. If you can help further, please click here to make a donation to the Y for this critical community work. We invite you to support each other and we offer our deepest thanks for any gift. Together, we will come through this pandemic stronger than ever.

We wish you and your family good health. Thank you for being a Y member.
