A FOLIAGE SWIM!

This fundraiser will help support the construction of Exeter Area YMCA's aquatic center, which will provide instructional, recreational, and competitive swim opportunities. Southern District YMCA, Solo Aquatics, and Triple Crown Swimmer, Bob Fernald, have already offered their support to make this event a success!

Swimmers of all levels: choose your distance and test your limits, while swimming amidst New England’s autumn colors! Select a race that both matches and challenges your capabilities.

  • 2 miles
  • 1 mile
  • 1/2 mile
  • 400 yards

THE COURSE:

All racers will have a waist-deep start at the water-front of YMCA Camp Lincoln, and the main course is a 1-mile loop. Two-mile swimmers will swim that loop twice, and the half-mile swimmers will swim a partial loop; the 400-meter will be a separate, out-and-back course.

ELIGIBILITY:

This event is open to all female and male swimmers! Youth swimmers, ages 11-17, must have coach approval and/or attend the two-hour Open Water Swim Clinic. Youth swimmers not affiliated with a swim team should contact amy@sdymca.org.

TEAMS:

There is a team option, so gather your friends! Teams of four can choose a distance and will compete against other teams.

AWARDS:

The top 3 male finishers and top 3 female finishers of each distance will be recognized, as well as the top team finisher.

Open Water Swim Clinic:

Train with Bob Fernald, the world's 136th person to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming! Despite injuries, even attending one race on crutches, Bob swam the English Channel, Manhattan Island, and Catalina Island with the 10th fastest combined time in history. You have the opportunity to learn from Bob about open water safety, course management, and siting techniques at one of the two-hour swim clinics below!

Clinic Dates:

September 17 - 3:00-5:00 PM

September 19 - 4:00-6:00 PM

Clinic fee: $50.
