9-hole Golf Scramble: Swing For A Cause

Apr 26, 2017

Kingston, NH -  Southern District YMCA is pleased to announce our partnership with the Adam McPhee Memorial Foundation to raise funds for an all-accessible tree house at Camp Lincoln. Kicking off this campaign will be the YMCA/Camp Lincoln Jamboree, a 9-hole golf scramble and corn-hole tournament on Friday, June 23 at the Rockingham Country Club.

Funds raised from this event will go directly to building a remarkable tree house at camp that will provide tree-top access for everyone of all abilities, a true tribute to Adam McPhee, the foundation’s namesake. “Adam did not let his abilities stop him from making his mark, and he would encourage others to do the same,” says Cory McPhee, Adam’s brother.  Mark Cadman, Camp Director at Camp Lincoln says, “This tree house will certainly find its way into camp programs as soon as it’s complete and we’re extremely excited to reach more campers within our community in such a creative way.”

Becky, local mother of two agrees. Her four-year-old son Oliver is mobile with a wheel chair and often attends the Exeter Area YMCA for exercise. “I can appreciate this kind of project. A tree house like this would allow Oliver, who loves to be outside and socializing with his friends, to en-gage with the things he already loves on a much higher level of inclusion with his peers.”

This tree house project mirrors Adam’s drive and positive presence, the act of celebrating with people of all abilities and including them in fun activities in a natural setting. This sense of inclusion has been a part of YMCA Camp Lincoln for over 90 years, which makes this a perfect part-nership event.

The 9-hole scramble and corn-hole tournament is sponsored by Bank of New Hampshire and will be held at The Rock, Rockingham Country Club on 200 Exeter Road, Newmarket on the longest day of the year. This is not just for golfers! You and your family and friends can participate in this event starting at 6:45 for a BBQ dinner, free corn-hole tournament, music and s’mores by the fire!
